remote team for the purpose of avoiding mobile

Additionally we have a waste reduction and recycling policy, and also help our customers move to paperless systems
We partner together with 1% for the Planet where 1% of our revenue is donated to environmental causes worldwide

Firstly, let us share a little more of our journey with you!
2007
Our Founder Clare Burns began her financial career
working with very different businesses than she does
today – the biggest names in the Australian Industrial
and Mining sector such as BHP, Barrick Gold, and more. Even though this built a foundation for what was to come, she quickly realised that her passions (and ethics!) sat in a very different type of business.
2012
Clare left the mining sector and began to apply the
skills she’d learned at the big end of town, this time, to small and medium businesses. More than just bookkeeping, she was able to offer these businesses a level of strategy other professionals weren’t able to, thanks to her experience. And, she was able to really partner with them as she was much more aligned with their values and mission than the bigger businesses.
2013
Range Business Services was launched – Clare’s
own bookkeeping practice. Having her own business allowed Clare to nurture her client relationships, and she began to gain recognition because of the above-and-beyond value she offered clients in the small and medium business sector.
2016
Clare hired her first staff member! A huge step in her
journey that certainly expanded her ability to provide hands-on support, fast turnaround times, and strategic advice to her clients.
2018
Range Business Services won the Broome Chamber of Commerce ‘Best Home Based Business’ award this year – above all what an honour!
We then also expanded from a humble
home office into a proper HQ, located in Broome’s
Chinatown area. As a result, this provided a warm and
welcoming space for team members to meet with
clients, and also run the business.
2019
By 2019, Clare and the team knew that cloud-based
bookkeeping was the future. With a deep passion for the environment and managing their climate footprint, this way of doing business was certainly a welcome shift for our team, and we embarked on a journey to transition all clients to the cloud.
2020
Indeed, in what was a challenging year for many
businesses and individuals, we doubled down on
supporting our clients as much as we could. With the impact of bushfires in the eastern states, then followed by the pandemic, we leveraged our cloud-based processes and virtual environment and continued to seamlessly provide our services. This helped so many small businesses gain access to the funding and support they most needed in such a challenging time.
2021
Significantly, this year saw us permanently shift to entirely cloud-based practices. At this time, we began servicing clients in locations all across Australia, providing high-quality remote support and advice no matter where they were located. We also put effort into our workflow and security platforms and permanently transitioned to a work-from-home team. This gave our staff the flexibility to support their family and balance other work, life, and health requirements, all while continuing to serve our clients.
2022
At last, a new milestone was reached – our first business acquisition and client merger! Our two businesses were very much aligned in terms of the softwares we used, so the transition for our new clients was the smoothest it could possibly have been. Above all, there were very little (if any) growing or transition pains, as new onboarding wasn’t necessary. This evidently was a crucial factor in the success of this merger. This acquisition also allowed us to break through into the eastern seaboard market, and create new alliances with auditors and accountants. Admittedly, the pressure of BAS time added some extra stress to the process, but you’d never have known from outside the office!
2023
In 2023, we ushered in a new era for our business,
complete with a name change – and so Purposely was
born! We recognised our passion for helping non-
profits, but also businesses doing great things to focus less on their numbers, and more on giving back to their
communities. We also began the process of becoming a Carbon Neutral business, enabling us to offer our clients a whole extra level of support: Carbon Accounting. Indeed, it’s never been more important to build a trusted, transparent, and socially responsible brand. Furthermore, with an increasing crack-down on Greenwashing (aka. Misleading or embellished carbon messaging), staying on the front foot of carbon reporting undeniably can save organisations time and stress down the track.
With Carbon Accounting, we can help our clients avoid
this risk and instead offer stakeholders a transparent
look into what they’re doing to reduce their carbon
footprint, keep accountable, and thus leave the world a
more beautiful place. Unquestionably, this is the
